Apply it with a soft brush for a smooth finish or a bristle brush for a bit more texture. One coat usually provides sufficient coverage, but extremely soft materials such as unfinished wood may require two coats of Daniel Smith Watercolor Ground. Non-absorbent materials (metal, plastic, etc.) should be lightly abraded with sandpaper or steel wool before application. Because it creates a surface more absorbent than paper, you will want to use less water with your paint than normal. Experiment and see what works best for you.
